Meet the Caring Professionals Behind Your Healing Journey

Roxy Hart

I am licensed as a professional counselor and a school psychologist in Wyoming with 30 years of professional work experience. I moved to Wyoming from where I was raised in the Midwest after completing undergraduate school and stayed after completing my graduate program at Central Missouri University. I specialize in working with victims of trauma and abuse. I have focused particularly on the issues of women who have suffered traumatic experiences and have problems coping with life's demands as a result. Those problems range from negative body image to failed interpersonal relationships and everything else in between. For ten years I co-facilitated a male sex offender group, so my experience has included helping those men find out why they offended and work toward not repeating those behaviors. During that time, I had many clients that were sexual addicts and worked with them on how to interrupt their cycles of acting out. I also have extensive experience in helping clients with relationship issues and family conflicts, including working with couples on bettering their relationships. Additionally, I have worked with many parents that have problems with getting along with their children, as well as coping with the grief that accompanies the loss of a child. As a school psychologist, I have extensive training and experience in working with individuals with disabilities, specifically mental and learning disabilities, as well as children with emotional disabilities. I work with people to develop a treatment plan that is specific to their individual needs, then focus on achieving the goals we outline. I am available to work with individuals, couples, or teens from anywhere across Wyoming via our telehealth platform.

Charles Shipley

I am licensed as a professional counselor in Wyoming with more than 30 years of professional work experience. I grew up in Natrona County and am a longtime Wyoming resident who enjoys outdoor activities year-round. I work with a diverse population of clients. I am a member of the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA) and have a specialty of working with adults and juveniles who have perpetrated sexual offenses. I have also worked with many folks whose lives have been drastically impacted by sexual and other process addictions, including those suffering addiction and their family members. I have received certification to help those harmed by trauma and work with many who have been so harmed. I spend a lot of time working with adolescents who suffer from mood and behavior problems and with their families to help reduce tension and increase more positive interaction. For many years I worked in schools in Sheridan and Johnson counties, helping students with disabilities to work to grow and thrive and reduce what they thought were limitations they would always suffer. I work at Experience Onsite in Cumberland, Tennessee, providing a range of interventions, and I bring that experiential magic to work at Life Strategy Center. I have a high interest in helping those who suffer chronic pain and am certified in Chronic Pain Reprocessing Therapy. Pain reprocessing provides great insights into folks’ fears, and most of us overlook how well we cope in spite of the complications that go with suffering chronic pain. I believe it is important to accept people where they are and help them work to achieve the goals they have and goals that are developed in counseling to improve how they are walking through life.

Deiadra L. Smidt

My name is Deiadra (Dee) L. Smidt, MS, LPC, 1316 WY. I am a Nationally Board Certified Counselor. I came to the profession of counseling after sixteen successful years in public education. To date, I have been assisting children, adolescents, adults, and couples for fifteen years.

We live in stressful and challenging times that can often lead to experiencing discouragement, depression, anxiety, confusion, anger, and hopelessness. I can assist children, adolescents, adults, and couples with whatever conflict or struggle they are facing. It’s important to know that no one has to do it alone. I deliver counseling services through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and person-centered therapy. I also provide counseling services for post-traumatic stress, trauma and recovery, grief and loss, parenting, child adjustment issues, teenage adjustment, and helping people who have been victims of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse.

I also offer child-centered play therapy techniques that are largely experiential, non-directive, and relationally based. Play therapy is a powerful yet gentle way for children to resolve problems, learn about themselves, develop self-esteem, change behaviors, and learn skills to cope with problems and challenges. It also assists children as they learn how to communicate with others. Developing a therapeutic relationship is foremost in my practice, as it allows the child client to progress at their own pace and experience empathy, warmth, and unconditional acceptance in a safe environment. I also assist children by incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques and mindfulness training. Prioritizing a child’s safety and security is paramount, and my playroom meets the therapeutic standards set forth by the Association for Play Therapy. I have been a member of this association for fifteen years. I have had specialized intensive play therapy training at The Center for Play Therapy with Dr. Garry Landreth in Denton, Texas. I have also had extensive Experiential Play Therapy training from Dr. Byron Norton at Norton Psychological in Greeley, Colorado.
